Dr. Jacinta Yeung was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. When trying to decide on a career to pursue, she would try different career aptitude tests. She knew she wanted to work with children but was confused when she kept getting matched with careers in rehabilitation. Her mother suggested that Dr. Yeung talk to her new optometrist and family friend, Dr. Mah. While Dr. Mah did not offer vision therapy services, she mentioned it and it caught Dr. Yeung's interest. She shadowed the only optometrist in town who offered vision therapy and found it to be the perfect mesh of her interests and strengths.

Dr. Jacinta YeungFinding an optometry school with a strong vision therapy program was imperative and Dr. Yeung decided to go to Pacific University, College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. She completed her undergraduate degree, a Bachelors of Visual Sciences there. In addition, she earned a Masters of Education in Visual Function in Learning in 2012 while completing her Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Yeung has completed various externships in primary care, contact lenses, and Developmental Optometry. She attributes her passion for behavioral optometry to her preceptors, Rob Lewis, O.D., F.C.O.V.D and Howard Bacon, O.D., F.C.O.V.D in Chandler, AZ.

Dr. Yeung has a behavioral background and previously worked in another office very similar to ours in Lakewood, Colorado. She briefly returned home to Edmonton, Alberta and started her own vision therapy practice there as well. She enjoys seeing her own therapy patients as part of her patient care.

In 2013, Dr. Yeung was awarded the Tole Greenstein Award for exceptional performance in areas of Binocular Vision, Vision Therapy, and Pediatric Vision. She also received the BSK Award for Exceptional Research for her Masters thesis project.

Dr. Yeung is married to another optometrist, her classmate from optometry school. They welcomed their son into their family in 2016. She enjoys knitting and traveling.

Dr. Yeung is thrilled to be working alongside Dr. Hutchins. They converse and collaborate frequently and have found that their philosophies are very similar.
